AUDITORIUM

The auditorium in the Birley Centre is a world-class venue for classical singing.   Beautifully designed and containing intricate acoustic optimisers, it is a rewarding venue both for singers and for the audience's appreciation of the skills and subtleties of classical singing.  Of sufficient size to enhance performances of arias from opera and oratorio, the auditorium also provides a wonderful intimacy conducive to compelling renditions of art songs, lieder and mélodies.

BACKSTAGE

Each competitor will be allocated their own individual, sound-proofed dressing room from 1 hour before their scheduled performance. They will also be allocated rehearsal time in a sound-proofed studio with grand piano prior to their performance.  The official accompanists will be in attendance for those competitors who have requested them at application.

RECORDING

An official audio recording will be made of all performances in both the first and final rounds.  Competitors may request a recorded copy of their own performance only with no charge. We hope that this may be useful to their musical development.
